Dear Potential Camp Unite Student Leaders,
Thank you for your interest in growing this summer through serving as a Camp Unite Student Leader! We encourage you to share this information with your parents and pray together concerning whether or not this is something the Lord is calling you into right now. We hope the following information explains the importance, responsibilities, and training of student leaders. Please feel free to reach out to your local youth director with any questions you may have about the roles, expectations, and requirements of a student leader.
Camp Unite Student Leaders help make camp possible. But their role is not to merely help put on camp but for them as individuals grow in their relationship with the Lord through being discipled and learning to disciple others, in a supportive environment where dependency on the Holy Spirit is key.
Prior to camp, as well as during camp, Camp Unite Student Leaders will receive training and support in how to lead like Jesus. The training and responsibilities of this kind of leadership is not for every student and requires a level of commitment from them that is more than others that are serving. Please talk and pray with your parents, friends, and adult leaders about the responsibilities this involved and see if this is something that you are being called to right now.

Why Should I Do It?
SLT has three primary purposes:
- Discipleship
- Learn leadership principles
- Gain practical leadership experience
Qualifications
- Trust in Jesus Christ as his or her personal Savior.
- Be growing in his or her relationship with Christ.
- LOVE and have a desire to serve and lead others in Christ.
- Demonstrate an attitude that models Christ and is attractive to peers.
- Be an active participant in Youth Ministry at a Bible Believing Church
Expectations of a Student Leader
Leadership demands expectations. Fortunately, students are more than ready to be challenged.
The profile of a student leader is
- Christ-like Humility and LOVE
- Growing spiritually
- Genuine and transparent
- Publicly supports leadership and their decisions
- Makes visitors feel welcome at events and programs
- Participates in all major events
- Genuinely friendly
- Looks for opportunities to share their faith
- Has a good reputation with peers
- Is actively involded in their the local & and youth ministry
- Respects, listens to, and communicates with leadership; upholds and helps enforce rules with a respectful, Christ-honoring attitude.
Those participating in SLT should be the most faithful and consistent participants in the youth ministry. Leaders are present! They take on leadership roles during youth events and ministry times.
How to Become a Student Leader
- Pray about this decision. Discuss it with your church youth leader/ pastor, several friends as well as your parents.
- Complete the application.
- The Camp Director will notify you with further information, and there may be a follow-up interview.
